Wellington region

This most southern of all capitals is bounded by steep hills and meanders through the valleys, wrapping itself around the harbour. Houses perched precariously on the ridge lines enjoy stunning views as far as the South Island. It is a capital city in many respects, besides central government and the required infrastructure.
It is a centre for culture, with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the National Opera, Dance and Drama Schools all based there. It is a centre for film production with Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings, King Kong) and the world renowned Weta Workshops calling Wellington home. The city is also home to the National Archives, the National Gallery and the contemporary Te Papa, Museum of New Zealand. Wellington is also renowned for its “Café Culture” and boasts more restaurants, cafes and bars per head of population than New York.
Wellington Apartment Accommodation
The city has numerous accommodation options, ranging from backpacker hostels, self catering apartments and budget to 5 star hotels. Business travellers swell the visitor numbers in week days and holiday makers often visit at weekends to enjoy the delights of the capital city.
