Christchurch City has changed forever post September 2010 and February 2012 Earthquakes. The central city is currently undergoing demolition and planning for the rebuild.

Bounded by the Pacific Ocean in the East and the Southern Alps to the West, the Canterbury Plains form a striking agricultural patchwork of colour.  This expanse is in contrast to a rugged surrounding landscape.
Using the main centre of Christchurch as a base it is possible to make numerous day trips to places as diverse as the land itself. Akaroa, Kaikoura and Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort are local favourites. 
The history of Christchurch City is fascinating, as it was designed in Great Britain and faithfully created on arrival in this far off land. There is plenty of period architecture to appreciate, magnificant botanical gardens, even punting on the Avon River..how English!
